Termite Treatment & Chemical Barriers
Finding termites is the easy part. What protects a house is a correctly designed, correctly installed and correctly documented management system — and in Queensland that work requires a QBCC termite management licence as well as a pest management technician licence. We hold both.
Two licences, and why you should ask for both
In Queensland, termite management work requires two separate licences and most operators only talk about one. A Queensland Health pest management technician licence, issued under the Medicines and Poisons Act 2019, is required to undertake pest management activities at all. A QBCC termite management licence — chemical, physical, or both — is required for treated zones and barrier work, and QBCC states plainly that anyone supervising or performing termite management chemical work must also hold a Queensland pest management licence.

QBCC licences can be checked on QBCC’s own licence search. Pest management technician licences are verified through Queensland Health’s Public Health Licensing Unit. We publish both numbers because very few operators in Brisbane publish the pest management technician number at all — and you should not engage anyone who will not give you both.
Chemical treated zones — Termidor HE
A chemical treated zone is a continuous band of treated soil around and under a building that termites cannot pass through undetected. We install Termidor HE, applied by drilling and injection where paths, paving, patios and slab edges require it, and by trenching and rodding through garden and soil areas.
- Eight-year protected zone on a correctly installed and maintained Termidor HE system.
- $2 million timber replacement warranty provided through the product itself, subject to the manufacturer’s terms and to the annual inspection condition below.
- Piers treated individually. Porch supports, stumps and piers each need treating around, and each is charged at one lineal metre of the standard rate. We say so before we quote rather than adding it afterwards.
- Underground service location before we drill. A pipe locator is quoted as its own line item on every job where drilling is required. Drilling into a sewer, water or conduit run is expensive and entirely avoidable.
Baiting and monitoring — Trelona ATBS
Where a treated zone is impractical — heavily landscaped blocks, complex footprints, properties where drilling would do more harm than good — an above-ground and in-ground baiting system is the better answer. Trelona ATBS is priced per station — $200 installed in soil, $270 where a station has to be cored through concrete — with the count set by the perimeter and the risk and confirmed on site before anything goes in:
- Two site visits, six months apart. The first is a full termite inspection plus station service; the second is a station service.
- Termatrac T3i, thermal camera and moisture meter at every visit — standard procedure, not an extra.
- Free monitoring until eradication if live termites are found in the stations.

What is included when you go ahead
Customers who proceed with a barrier get a free termite inspection and a general pest treatment through the home, completed before the job is signed off. It is not a discount gimmick — it is how we confirm the property is clear before the zone goes in and how you get a documented starting point.
Standards, and what we will not claim
New building work is covered by AS 3660.1. Management in and around existing buildings is covered by AS 3660.2:2017. Assessment criteria for termite management systems sit in AS 3660.3, and pre-purchase timber pest inspections are carried out to AS 4349.3-2010.
We say our work is carried out to those standards. We do not say we are “AS 3660 certified” or “Australian Standards approved”, because standards are complied with rather than certified against, and because AEPMA is explicit that no treatment can claim to conform with the standard unless the requirements under a termite management plan have been met. We also do not describe termite management as eradication. It is management, and the protection depends on the system staying intact and being inspected.
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled: 1. to cancel your service contract with us; and 2. to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure does not amount to a major failure you are entitled to have problems with the service rectified in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel your contract and obtain a refund for the unused portion of the contract.

How long does a Termidor HE barrier last?
A correctly installed and maintained Termidor HE treated zone carries an eight-year protected zone, with a $2 million timber replacement warranty provided through the product, subject to the manufacturer's terms. Both depend on annual inspections being carried out — that is a condition, not a suggestion.
Do you have to drill my paths and patio?
Where a path, driveway, patio or slab edge sits over the soil the zone has to pass through, yes — drilling and injecting is how the zone stays continuous, and a zone with a gap in it is not a zone. Holes are patched. Before any drilling we quote and run an underground service location so we are not putting a bit through a sewer, water line or conduit.
Can you guarantee the termites will never come back?
No, and neither can anyone else honestly. Termite work is management, not eradication — a treated zone makes it very difficult for a colony to reach the structure undetected, and inspections catch what does. Any company promising permanent elimination is making a claim it cannot substantiate.
